I studied painting, drawing and sculpture at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD), the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and the University of Wisconsin, Madison where I was awarded a BS in Painting and Drawing. I've continued to study and make art everywhere I've lived, and currently work from my home studio in San Diego, California.
I also hold a BA in Conservation Biology from the University of Wisconsin. Since graduation I have worked as a conservation biologist and educator in Wisconsin, North Dakota, West Virginia, New Mexico, Washington, Oregon and California. I focused my early career efforts on habitat restoration, wetland science and regulatory policy. I currently am the manager of environmental programs for a large energy company. The team of scientists, project managers, land planners, biologists, archaeologists and other staff that I manage and work with every day are all committed to ensuring a sustainable and low carbon energy future while preserving the incredible biodiversity of San Diego and Southern California.
