I am working now in San Diego, California. During the day, I study the plants, wildlife and waters that surround us all and compose the very real world we are subject to. I get to spend many hours every year as a biologist observing minute cues in nature, studying and characterizing the interactions of humans in a world brimming with other species and forms of life.
I work at night and on the weekends as an artist. People ask me what my work is about. I tell them something different every time, which is especially true right now. I am exploring my range as an artist, and working through ideas that have been with me for a while. I'm very lucky because my day job informs my night job, and vice versa.
I work with and without figures, with and without subjects. My work is about the world as I encounter it. I enjoy the entire creative process of painting and drawing, including constructing my own stretchers and canvases and making wood frames for my finished pieces. It makes each finished piece a complete effort and a unique expression on multiple levels.
I intend to spend much more time making paintings and drawings in the near future, to discover new ways of recording my ideas visually. I gift away a large majority of my work, but many pieces on my site are for sale or may represent a potential series core for future works to come.
